Paula Abdul called 911 on Valentine's Day after emotional fight with boyfriend

For Paula Abdul, Valentine's Day was more than bittersweet.

The former "American Idol" judge got into an emotional fight with her boyfriend, a dispute that was caught on audio during a call Abdul placed to 911.

In the recording, which was taken at 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 14 and obtained by TMZ.com, Abdul tells the operator she is on the 401 freeway near Santa Barbara, Calif.

"I want out of this car and he won't let me," Abdul, 48, cries.

As the operator asks the singer for more info, Abdul can be heard asking her boyfriend, "Are you going to drop me off because I have emergency on the phone?"

"He's dropping me off," Abdul breathlessly says just before the recording – which is about 50 seconds long – cuts off.

According to TMZ, officers later spoke with Abdul, who reportedly said she had had a verbal argument, and a police report was unnecessary.

"Arguments with loved ones are often times heated," Abdul's rep told TMZ. "After the call was made everything was worked out."
