KIDS DRAW GUN ON BUS DRIVER

1 KIDS DRAW GUN ON BUS DRIVER

Three juveniles on foot allegedly brandished a gun at a bus driver while he was making a stop Saturday night in Kingsessing, according to a SEPTA spokesman.

The Route 40 bus driver was stopped at 54th Street and Chester Avenue about 10:55 p.m. when three boys approached his window, at least one of whom pointed a gun at the driver, said Andrew Busch, SEPTA spokesman. There were no shots fired and the kids ran away before police arrived, Busch said. He was not aware of a motive but said that if the kids planned to rob the bus driver, they wouldn't have gotten very far because the fare boxes are locked and drivers can't access the money.

A struggle followed and police said that the male victim flipped one of the robbers over his shoulder, knocking the gun out of his hand.

The second robber then reached in his waistband and as that man ran away, the victim heard a single shot that hit him in the buttocks and exited his right thigh, police said.

The 28-year-old victim was listed in stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. Both robbers remain on the loose.

As he was being taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, police found another victim, a 17-year-old girl, sitting on steps about a block away from the crime scene. She said that she'd been shot once in the left side while at the crime scene and had run to get help.
